620,000 2016-19 Ford Explorers Recalled for Roof Rail Covers
The last generation of the Ford Explorer before its 2020 redesign is currently under recall from the automaker for a potential road hazard that may not affect you, but could affect others driving around you: loose roof rail covers.

More than 620,000 model-year 2016-19 Explorer SUVs are affected, and variants include base and XLT trim levels, as well as Police Interceptor and Explorer Sport models with roof rail covers that are painted silver, black or Absolute Black. A detached roof rail cover can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
To resolve the problem, dealers will secure the roof rails with plastic push pins for free. Ford will begin notifying owners June 28.
