331,000-Plus Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L SUVs Recalled for Rear Coil Spring Issue
Just weeks after recalling its Grand Cherokee and larger Grand Cherokee L for incorrectly installed steering columns, Jeep parent automaker Stellantis is recalling the SUVs again. This time, the issue involves more than 331,400 examples and the vehicles’ rear coil springs, which may have been installed incorrectly during production.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2022-23 Grand Cherokees and model-year 2021-23 Grand Cherokee Ls, and Stellantis said in an email to Cars.com that the defect is estimated to be present in roughly 13% of the vehicles recalled. It also said Jeeps equipped with air suspensions are not affected. The incorrectly installed rear coil spring may come out of position and detach while driving, increasing the risk of a crash and injury to individuals both inside and outside the vehicle.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and repair the rear coil spring assemblies, as necessary, for free.
