2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S Gets More Power, $148,395 Base Price

Now that the Porsche 911 GTS is a 532-horsepower hybrid with an electrically driven turbocharger, there’s a conspicuous (to Porsche and its buyers) void in the 911 lineup where a car with output in the high 400s should be — or rather, there was, as it’s now been plugged by the 2025 Carrera S, which picks up an additional 30 hp and a few other bits that make it seem less like a juiced-up Carrera and more like a GTS Lite.
A Wave of Power
With 473 hp and 390 pounds-feet of torque, the 2025 Carrera S matches the pre-hybrid GTS in power, but torque is down 30 pounds-feet; torque output matches that of the 2024 S. Not only does the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six-cylinder engine make more power, it also emits fewer pollutants. Porsche achieved these oft-conflicting goals with new turbochargers and a revised intercooler, among other tweaks. The brand claims the 2025 Carrera S will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 191 mph. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic is the only available transmission, and until a 4S variant arrives, rear-wheel drive is the only available layout.

Beyond the increased output, the redesigned S gets a standard sport exhaust, previous-gen GTS brakes measuring 16 inches up front and 15 inches in the back, updated shocks and a torque-vectoring rear differential. For buyers wanting a more intense S, the options list includes carbon-ceramic brakes, an adaptive sport suspension that lowers the car 0.4 inch, rear-wheel steering, a front-axle lift system, and the Sport Chrono Package with launch control, which is necessary to hit that 3.1-second 0-60 time.
In recent years, nearly the entire 911 lineup (minus the GT3) has been turbocharged and the GTS has gone hybrid. But perhaps the greater transformation to the basic 911 template is now inside, where the latest generation has ditched the rear seat. (For sadists and buyers with small children — hopefully not the same people — the rear seat is still available as an option.) In addition, the 2025 Carrera S features more standard leather (including the seats, upper dash and door panels), a cooled wireless phone charger and a drive mode knob on the heated steering wheel.
