2024 Chevrolet Colorado Priced from $31,095, AEV Bison Starts at $60,540
Face-lifted for the 2023 model year, the Chevrolet Colorado sees the return of the ZR2 Bison Edition for 2024. Co-developed with Montana-based American Expedition Vehicles, the Bison features heavy-duty bumpers, steel skid plates, upsized all-terrain tires and more. While buyers can get into a base Colorado for $31,095 (all prices include destination), they’ll need to shell out nearly double that for the Bison.

Availability and Pricing
The 2024 Colorado is on sale now. It’s available only as a crew cab with a short box, in two basic configurations and four levels of increasing capability for off-road enthusiasts. Full line pricing is as follows:
- WT: $31,095
- LT: $33,495
- Trail Boss: $38,895
- Z71: $41,795

Powertrain Specs and MPG
For 2024, Chevrolet simplified the Colorado’s engine lineup. All are powered by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder, but where in 2023 the engine was available in three outputs, only two are available for 2024. The base engine, standard in the WT and LT trim levels, makes 237 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque. Optional in the lower trim levels and standard on those above the LT is a high-output version of the same 2.7-liter; it costs $1,285 and is cranked up to 310 hp and 430 pounds-feet of torque. Last year’s 310-hp mid-level configuration, which made 390 pounds-feet, is no longer offered.
All Colorados come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the WT and LT, and four-wheel drive is a $3,300 option on those trim levels and standard above them. With RWD and the base engine, the Colorado gets an EPA-rated 20/24/22 mpg city/highway/combined. The high-output engine bumps rear-drive Colorados down to 19/24/21 mpg, while 4WD drops each figure down another mpg, to 18/23/20. As off-road capability increases, fuel economy drops further, bottoming out with the Bison’s 16/16/16 mpg.

Trim Levels and Safety Features
The Colorado WT is a basic work truck, riding on 17-inch steel wheels and featuring push-button start, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, six speakers and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety equipment on the WT is limited to lane departure steering assist and forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection and automatic emergency braking.
Adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera and rear pedestrian detection are bundled into the Technology Package, which is optional on every Colorado trim. Ditto the Safety Package, which includes rear parking sensors with automatic braking, blind spot steering assist and rear cross-traffic braking.
To the WT’s equipment, the LT adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, keyless entry, a remote locking tailgate and a center console.
The Colorado starts to emphasize off-road capability starting with the Trail Boss, on which the high-output four-cylinder and 4WD become standard. Also included are a 2-inch suspension lift, 18-inch wheels, locking rear differential, black recovery hooks and flared fenders.
Surprisingly, the Z71 ditches the suspension lift and instead gains LED headlights, red tow hooks, a sliding rear window and available synthetic leather seats.
The ZR2 gets a 3-inch lift with unique Multimatic dampers and a significant visual overhaul: unique front and rear bumpers, rock rails to protect the sills and all-terrain tires. It also features locking front and rear differentials, a spray-on bedliner and a Trailering Package with an integrated trailer-brake controller. The ZR2 also gets additional standard comfort equipment, such as a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and dual-zone climate control.
For serious off-roaders, the Bison Edition adds stamped steel front and rear bumpers; skid plates for the engine, transfer case, rear differential and fuel tank; unique fender flares and dampers; beadlock wheels with 35-inch tires; and a full-size spare wheel and tire mounted upright against the back of the cab.
