What Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size three-row SUV with seating for seven or eight people. The lone powertrain is a 437-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission; this engine is optional in the Tundra pickup truck, which shares its platform with the Sequoia. Rear- and four-wheel drive are offered on the SR5 and Limited trim levels, while the rest of the lineup comes standard with 4WD. The Sequoia competes against rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon and Jeep Wagoneer.
What’s New on the 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
The Sequoia gains an upscale 1794 Edition trim level for 2025. The name is a reference to the Texas factory where the Sequoia is built; the facility occupies the former site of a ranch that was established in 1794. 4WD is standard on the 1794 Edition and is newly standard on the Platinum and Capstone trims. Massaging seats are a newly available feature; they’re standard in the 1794 Edition, Platinum and Capstone. Also new is an available wireless camera that can attach to the rear of a trailer and stream its feed to either the Sequoia’s digital rearview mirror or the infotainment screen, giving the driver an unobstructed view behind the trailer.

Should I Buy the 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
The Sequoia boasts a powerful engine, a long list of standard features and the build quality you’d expect of a Toyota, but it also stumbles in several areas, giving rivals such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition an advantage. The Sequoia’s third row is cramped for adults, and cargo space is subpar for the class when it’s occupied. Even with the third row folded, there’s less cargo volume than you’ll find in rival full-size SUVs. Even more awkward is that, due to the packaging requirements of the hybrid powertrain and solid rear axle, folding the third row doesn’t create a flat cargo floor. Also, our observed fuel economy with the Sequoia’s hybrid turbo V-6 was only marginally better than a number of its competitors.
