Vehicle Overview
New features fortify the optional Ironman Package, and Isuzu celebrates its 85th birthday with an Anniversary Edition of the Rodeo, a four-door SUV. Built in Lafayette, Ind., Isuzu makes the Rodeo at a plant it shares with Subaru. Honda sells the same vehicle as the Passport with minor appearance and equipment differences.

The Ironman Package available on the LS model adds 18-inch gray metallic alloy wheels, a painted rear roof spoiler, a four-way power driver’s seat, tubular side steps, privacy glass and other items. The Anniversary Edition sports two-tone paint, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, a beige leather interior, chrome side steps, a power moonroof and electronic ride control, among other features.

Overall length on the Rodeo is 177 inches, nearly 10 inches longer than the Jeep Cherokee but 13 inches shorter than the Ford Explorer.

All models come in four-door styling with a tailgate that swings open to the left. The rear window swings up separately and must be opened before the tailgate. The spare tire mounts on the tailgate on the base S model, and it stores underneath the rear of the vehicle on other models.

All versions of the Rodeo seat five with two front buckets and a three-place 60/40 split rear bench seat that folds for additional cargo room.

Under the Hood
The base Rodeo S model comes with a standard 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine. All others have a 3.2-liter V-6. All models are available with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission and either two- or four-wheel drive.

Included in the Ironman Package is an electronic ride control system called Intelligent Suspension Control. Sensors feed information to a computer that adjusts suspension firmness to one of 17 settings based on vehicle speed, engine speed, lateral forces and loads on the shock absorbers.
