Subaru will be revealing an all-new electric vehicle July 17. Called the Uncharted, it is a compact electric SUV — and that’s all we know right now. But based on the sole photo of a little red SUV kicking up dust (on a trail, we might add, which means the route definitely has been charted) and recent developments, we have some educated guesses to make.

Twenty years ago, Toyota purchased a relatively small stake in Subaru, which has grown over the past two decades. While the tie-up initially resulted in the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S nee Toyota GR86 sports coupe twins, the two automakers have more recently been collaborating on hybrids and EVs. For example, the Subaru Solterra is the Toyota bZ, and the new, longer Subaru Trailseeker is the same vehicle that Toyota just introduced as the bZ Woodland.

Toyota also recently dropped an all-new C-HR, an electric compact SUV that shares its all-wheel-drive powertrain with the bZ. Its coupe-like roofline looks an awful lot like the one in Subaru’s dusty teaser shot, too. Is the Subaru Uncharted the seven-star brand’s C-HR? Yes, probably. We’ll find out next week, so stay tuned for more details.
