Owners of Kia EV6s, EV9s and Niro EVs now have access to the Tesla Supercharger network, adding over 21,500 DC fast chargers as options for charging. Kia owners can now find, navigate to and pay for the use of Superchargers along with other charging networks’ locations both through their car’s infotainment screen and on their Kia Access smartphone app.
Access to the Tesla Supercharger network was originally scheduled to roll out earlier this year but was delayed until now. Kia says this bumps the total number of available DC fast chargers for its vehicles to over 40,000. The Superchargers will now work more seamlessly — no aftermarket finangling or Magic Dock use needed — with either standard Tesla-style North American Charging Standard ports or NACS adapters.
Kia recently adopted the NACS, which was formerly proprietary to Tesla cars but was opened up for all automakers to use a couple years ago. The 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 will come standard with NACS ports, while Kia electric-vehicle buyers started receiving free NACS adapters last September. Customers who took delivery of their EVs after Sept. 4, 2024, can purchase one from a Kia dealership.
