Six years into its life cycle, the Lexus ES is due for the overhaul its Toyota counterpart, the juggernaut Camry, received for 2025. Instead, the 2025 ES gets no major changes. The Black Line Special Edition Package returns, however, after a four-year slumber.

Available only on the 302-horsepower ES 350 F Sport Handling, the Black Line edition adds black mirror housings, lip spoiler and sills. It also includes F Sport puddle lamps, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 360-degree camera system.

The 2025 ES continues to offer a wide variety of powertrains. ES 350 models are powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine making 302 horsepower and 267 pounds-feet of torque and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. For 2024, most ES 350s get an EPA-rated 22/32/26 mpg city/highway/combined, but efficiency slips ever so slightly in the ES 350 F Sport to 22/31/25 mpg (official figures for the 2025 model are not yet available).

For the same price as the six-cylinder models, Lexus also offers the ES 250 all-wheel drive, which uses a 203-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 184 pounds-feet. It, too, comes standard with an eight-speed automatic. Fuel economy for the 2024 ES 250 lands at 25/34/28 mpg.

The priciest powertrain in the ES family is the 300h. It pairs the 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor, sending a total of 215 horsepower to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission. It achieves an impressive 43/44/44 mpg.
