2026 Toyota bZ Woodland: The Longer, More Powerful Electric SUV

  • Competes with: Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Subaru Trailseeker
  • Looks like: A bZ stretched into station-wagon proportions
  • Powertrain: 375-horsepower dual electric motors; 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery; all-wheel drive
  • Release date: Early 2026

It’s easy to tell the 2025 Toyota bZ4X from the 2026 bZ it morphed into: The newer electric vehicle’s available body-color fenders replace the black pieces on its predecessor. The black fenders (Toyota calls them “overfenders”) return on the 2026 bZ Woodland, but distinguishing it from its less outdoorsy counterpart is also simple: The Woodland is nearly 6 inches longer.

Recall that the bZ4X was codeveloped with Subaru, which sells its version as the Solterra. Both automakers updated the vehicles for 2026, and Subaru also revealed a new electric wagon, the Trailseeker. While full specifications for the new bZ Woodland and Trailseeker haven’t been released yet, close examination of the photos — and what information we do have — strongly suggests the bZ Woodland is Toyota’s Trailseeker.

Powertrain Specs and Range

Like the Trailseeker, the bZ Woodland is only available with two electric motors providing all-wheel drive. Total output is 375 horsepower, 37 hp more than the standard AWD bZ offers. Also like the Trailseeker, the bZ Woodland sports Subaru’s X-Mode drive mode controller for increased traction on varied terrain and can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

With the same 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery as its sibling, the bZ Woodland’s range suffers from the additional power, as well as the mass of its longer body. Toyota says it can travel up to 260 miles on a charge, which is 28 miles less than the AWD bZ manages. A standard North American Charging Standard port allows the bZ Woodland to juice up its battery at Tesla charging stations, and on a DC fast charger, it can replenish its pack from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
