10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Honda CR-V Hybrid Proves Popular, Toyota Sienna Is So-So

Just because something’s the “best” doesn’t mean it’s your favorite. I mean, like, “Citizen Kane” may be frequently cited as the “best” film ever made, but you’re far more likely to fire up something like “Die Hard,” “Clueless” or “Black Panther.” Similarly, the Nissan Rogue may have emerged victorious in our seven-vehicle challenge to find the Best Compact SUV for 2025, but it’s the Honda CR-V hybrid that left at least some of us craving the car equivalent of comfort food that just kinda does everything just right in an endearing, unflashy way (not unlike the simple, uncomplicated pleasures of ol’ Rosebud).

In Cars.com’s most popular article of the past week — reviewer Stef Schrader’s comprehensive critique of the 2025 CR-V hybrid — the case is made for the all-around excellence of this fuel-sipping variant of one of the consistently bestselling vehicles in America. The Honda compact SUV offers user-friendly controls, an inviting interior, impressive cargo space, satisfying handling and an achievable EPA-estimated 40/34/37 mpg city/highway/combined fuel economy rating — all for a price ranging from just over $36,000 up to a still-manageable $42,495.
“The Honda CR-V hybrid has few standout features beyond its exceptionally smooth drivetrain, but it offers a nice blend of space, comfort, utility, fuel economy and driving dynamics,” Schrader states in her review. “It’s fun to drive without being punishing, and it doesn’t sacrifice refinement for miles per gallon.”

If you’re instead in the market for a minivan for ferrying the family around, the 2025 Toyota Sienna — not unlike the CR-V — excels in fuel efficiency and falls short of competitors on tech features and makes its case for consideration. In his comprehensive critique of the Sienna, Cars.com reviewer Brian Normile commends the minivan for the rugged good looks of the off-road-adjacent Woodland Edition, adequate acceleration from its standard 245-horsepower hybrid powertrain, segment-leading gas mileage of 36 mpg at its best, ride comfort, occupant accommodations, cargo room, palatable as-tested price around $55,000 and all-around family-friendliness. Curbing its appeal were so-so handling, infotainment frustrations, frontward visibility compromised by the available integrated dashcam and narrow sliding-door opening to the second row.
